Job Description

Department of Robotics of the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences (seng.nu.edu.kz) invites applications for assistant professor positions to begin in January 2020. Preferred candidates may be focused on soft robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles, and robotic applications of machine learning.

Nazarbayev University is a new Western style, English-speaking university established in 2011. The University is well-endowed with substantial support from the government and aspire to be a top research University in the region. We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence in both research and teaching. Applicants should have been awarded a PhD or equivalent degree from a reputable university, and are expected to have publications in top ranked journals/conferences in the areas of their expertise. Experience in industry and the alignment with thematic areas of the department would be favorably considered.

Initial appointment is on a 3-year renewable contract and subsequent appointments can be 5-year/3-year renewable subject to annual performance reviews. An attractive internationally competitive remuneration package will include: Internationally competitive salary; A startup grant for conference travels and building collaborations; Holiday leave of 56 days per annum; Two flights for the appointee and dependents home per annum (excluding Kazakhstan citizens); International health insurance; Rent-free housing for the appointee and dependents; Assistance for relocation expenses including air fares for the appointee and dependents; and an educational allowance for dependent children (excluding Kazakhstan citizens).
