At HoistGroup we develop all our PMS software in-house, at our office in Chiswick, London. PMS stands for Property Management Software, and is the industry term for software used in hotels to perform all major tasks such as room reservations, guest billing, marketing, reporting, and working with groups, conferences, banqueting, allotments, and much more.

As a Software Engineer you will work in a small team using PHP Web Platform Technology.

Work in a fast-paced agile environment developing features planned as part of a roadmap.

-  Collaborate closely with engineering and stakeholder teams when needed.
-  Write clear, concise and well-tested code.
-  Contribute to the system architecture.
-  Proactively monitor the health of applications owned by the team and address issues
-  Participate in code reviews.
-  Be very focused on delivery whilst not comprising on quality.
-  Encourage people to look at new ways of doing things.

- Good experience in Front and Back End technologies
- Experience with OOP PHP and PHP7
- Experience with MySQL
- Experience with Laravel / Symphony 2, Zend 2 or any MVC Framework
- Experience with HTML5, CSS 3, Java Script
- Solid Knowledge of LAMP
- Experience of developing software in an Agile environment.
- Evidence of self-learning.
- Attitude is very important! You will need to be passionate about improving quality and processes

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

You should also be willing to work in a small team, which uses a style of much ongoing communication and sharing of tasks and knowledge. Taking initiative is essential, pull your own weight, and have an open mind to problem solving. You must program in a meticulous but simple style (our motto is that “simpler is always better, and bloated complex code always leads to support problems”).

You should also be willing to answer difficult support problems (escalated from our first line support) over the phone and via email, with a professional and friendly disposition.

Good English is a requirement.
