Job Description

General Summary of Duties: The business office manager is responsible for supervising the business office functions of our Ambulatory Surgery Center. These functions include recruitment, training, evaluation, and retention of personnel as well as ensuring timely and accurate data input of the surgery schedule, insurance verification, coding/billing, collections, patient registration, and completing financial end-of-month closure and reporting.

Will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer

Will lead an efficient, successful, highly focused customer service trained business office team including:

·     Surgery scheduling

·     Admissions/registration

Will work in conjunction with:

·     Insurance verification

·     Patient financial counselors

·     Collections

DUTIES

·     You will lead many process improvement initiatives

·     You will ensure accurate business transactions and processes which require a high level of professional judgment and discretion in carrying out assignments, the ability to problem solve, a high degree of confidentiality, and the ability to work under pressure.

·     Working with billing center to manage revenue cycle process

·     Establish and maintain protocols for the charge entry

·     Working with Finance team to complete all month end close processes.

·     Assures compliance to industry regulatory standards as well as North Central/USPI Business Office standards, policies and procedures.

·     Communicates regularly and effectively

·     Dynamic leadership skills to help direct, coach and motivate staff.

·     Conduct personnel evaluations for employees supervised.

·     Interview and hire personnel as needed due to staff changes.

·     Conduct departmental meetings.

·     Maintain strict confidentiality in regards to patient account status.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. MBA preferred with a focus in Healthcare Management or Finance/Accounting

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a leadership role
  • Minimum 5 years business office management experience (preferably in ASC environment) 
  • Experience with accounting/financial/budgeting management
  • Experience with third party payers (HMO, PPO, Medicare/Medicaid, etc)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous experience with EMR/EHR systems
  • Previous clinical experience (ASC setting preferred)
