Job Description

This position will primarily be dedicated to non-profit customers. The position also oversees other Socious Event Services contracts. The Director of Event Planning will supervise 4-5 event services staff members including the registration coordinator and two event planners. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

     •· Conference Planning – Work with the various Conference Planning Teams to Coordinate all activities related to the planning of annual conferences including one event with 4500 attendees from over 20 countries. Significant oversite and input is provided by the Conference Planning teams.

     • International Conference Planning – Coordinate or supervise all activities related to the planning for 6 international conferences in the following regions: Europe, Middle East, South Africa, Latin America, Australia and Asia.

     • Speaker Management Services – supervise staff who use the Socious speaker management system and work with speakers from all events to load information.

     • Registration Management Services -work with staff who are using Socious tools to maintain the registration management system. Also provide planning for registration needs at all conferences. 

     • Regional Conference Planning – work with regional conference teams to organize and promote all facets of the regional conferences for 7 US based regions.

     • Future Site sourcing (Alliance, Regional, International) – provide leadership for the future site selection committee for various events. Also provide leadership and analysis in sourcing all regional and international events.

     • Build strong relationships with HEUG Board members – Most Socious event services customers are volunteer based organizations who are very collaborative. The Director must have the ability to develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with the board and all volunteers.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Eligible candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree and a CMP as well as at least 5 years of experience in meeting or event planning. Demonstrated work towards a CMM is a plus. Very strong interpersonal skills are required for this position. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are crucial. Candidate must be a team player with the ability to work with other staff members, vendors and the membership. Must be able to organize and coordinate multiple projects. Critical thinking and ability to work independently are necessary. Candidates must have intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel and email. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Benefits:

  • Socious covers the full cost of an employee's medical, dental and vision insurance. Additional dependents and family coverage optional and at cost to employee.
  • Employees are eligible to participate in our 401k plan immediately. Socious will match contributions at a rate of 100% of the first 3% of salary and 50% of the next 2% of salary. All matching is vested immediately.
  • Employees accrue 8 hours of time off per month (12 days per year). This time may be used for either sick days or vacation. At any time, an employee may borrow up to 40 hours of future accruable paid time off. Socious observes 9 paid holidays each year (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve Day). Plus, two Floating Holidays to be used at your discretion.
