Institutional Research and Assessment Analyst

Summary

The Institutional Research and Assessment Analyst is a full-time position in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (IE). The Analyst serves as a key member of the IE team, assisting the Director of Institutional Research with data collection, validation, analysis and reporting to both internal and external audiences, and supporting the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness in coordinating campus-wide assessment and program evaluation. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in compiling institutional research reports, e.gs. IPEDS NCHED, Common Data Set, and ad hoc reports for internal decision making
  • Coordinating and administering campus-wide surveys, including academic course evaluations, the National Survey of Student Engagement and the Student Satisfaction Inventory
  • Organizing academic and administrative program evaluation portfolios

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an area related to education, psychology, business, statistics, social sciences, or other fields that emphasize assessment, or the equivalent in education and experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Excellent analytical and written/verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Able to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Function as a key member of a highly collaborative team
  • Knowledge of standard office software packages, e.g. MS Excel, required
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and meaningfulness in research and data reporting
  • Be able to understand the large significance of research and assessment practices
  • Have an interest in keeping up with developments in the fields of institutional research and program evaluation
  • A spirit of creativity and enthusiasm for institutional research and assessment

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in an area related to education, psychology, business, statistics, social sciences, or other fields that emphasize assessment, or related experience in an higher educational institutional research environment
  • Skilled with statistical packages (e.g. Excel, SPSS, Tableau)

  • Talking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. 
  • Lifting, Pulling, Pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Work Conditions
  • Work out-of-doors and in office environments, involving contact with faculty, staff, students, parents, service providers and vendors
  • Work has deadlines, interruptions, and may be stressful at times.
