We are the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority. Our mission is to conserve the natural environment, support agriculture and connect people to nature by protecting open spaces, natural areas, and working farms and ranches for future generations. We have protected 22,000 acres of natural and agricultural lands in Santa Clara County. Our agency operates a network of open space lands to manage and conserve natural resources and provide compatible opportunities for hiking, biking, and equestrian uses.

Job Description

We are seeking an excited and engaged communications team member to join the Authority’s Community Engagement Team, whose goals include connecting diverse audiences the mission of the Authority, through integrity, creativity, and intentionality. Reporting to the Communications Specialist, this position will support the communications and social media goals of the Authority, assist in administering the Measure Q environmental education grant program, and provide support for governmental affairs.

You bring attention to detail and strong organizational skills to every task and project you complete, complimented by a desire to help others. You are balanced in your ability to think outside the box and be grounded in processes; you can multitask between creating collateral, researching governmental or legislative items, and the administrative support work of a grant program.

 

Your strong communication skills and commitment to customer service enable you to effectively interact with internal staff and outside vendors to produce collateral, web, and social media content. You enjoy using technology to streamline processes and are familiar with database, customer relationship, and content management systems. You are a team player and thrive on a shared sense of purpose, learning new skills, and creative collaboration to advance the agency’s strategic goals and vision.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess no less than the following education and experience:

·         Two years’ experience working in communications, marketing, public relations programs, preferred within a mission driven organization;

·         Minimum of two years’ college coursework, with emphasis in communications, journalism, marketing, design, or related fields – completed Bachelor’s degree is preferred;

·         Excellent grammar, writing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail and accuracy;

·         Proficiency in multiple social media platforms and metrics, basic working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, database (CRM) management;

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this full-time, non-exempt position is $31.72 to $38.56 hourly, depending on experience and qualifications. To compliment this salary, we offer a robust benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their dependents – we cover 100% of the cost for these premiums. We participate in CalPERS retirement programs as well as offering a separate 457 Plan for tax deferred retirement savings. A basic life insurance policy is provided to all eligible employees with the option to purchase additional personal insurance benefits.
