Job Description

The Director of Programs plays a vital leadership role in assuring strong management and excellent quality of the organization’s international programs. The Director of Programs assures consistency of technical, financial and monitoring approaches across the NASTAD Global Program. The Director is also responsible for representing NASTAD for policy and business development interactions with external partners and vendors. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to proactively assess plan for and execute solutions to address international program management needs of the organization in a timely fashion.

Essential Duties

  • Supervises Global Program staff to assure delivery of high quality program activities as planned,
  • Assess technical and program capacity of Global Program staff (HQ and in field offices), and assure staff training and development to address identified gaps.
  • Oversee development of ongoing funding continuation applications, narratives, annual reports, and technical reviews
  • Develop and implement a Global Program monitoring and evaluation plan in line with NASTAD and Global Program strategic plans
  • Lead the development of NASTAD Global policy positions and implementation of strategies and programs to achieve NASTAD’s organizational goals
  • Work with the Senior Director to seek out additional fund opportunities to further the reach of NASTAD’s Global Work
  • Work with the Senior Director to identify opportunities to partner with national organizations and pursue new relationships with non-traditional partners working in Global Health
  • Attend and represent NASTAD at conferences and participate in relevant external meetings
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Epidemiology, or equivalent, and 10 years of relevant experience (for example, in HIV/AIDS, non profit/state/local governmental operations, international activities, governmental contract administration); or Master’s degree and 8 years of experience.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams;
  • Prior experience working in the area of HIV and or hepatitis a plus.
  • Direct experience living and/or working in a developing country preferred;
