Job Summary

Interacts with other engineering groups to test satellite communications equipment. Participates as a test engineer in all phases of the hardware/firmware/software development process (requirements, specifications, architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance). Identifies functional problems with regard to testing and maintenance and suggests resolutions. Creates and assists in the definition of internal quality control standards and documentation related to software and product testing.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Review requirements documents generated by design engineers to make sure all requirements can be tested
• Develop system and subsystem test plans for new equipment and revision changes to existing equipment
• Perform system level and subsystem level testing
• Work with vendors to support testing that cannot be accomplished in house.
• Evaluate new suitable-substitution components for GATR commercial SATCOM product line
• Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans
• Provide test inputs to project planning and management
• Create, edit, and maintain revision control of test procedures
  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to identify proper test equipment required to perform system and subsystem level testing.
• Ability to perform system verification testing for design verification
• Ability to create a set of quality tests for production verification
• Experience with:

1. Spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, signal generator, multi-meter, thermal chamber
2. Basic knowledge of Labview
3. Calibration requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
• SATCOM experience preferred

Credentials and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• Minimum of 6 years electrical test experience
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
