Job Description

About your role:

The Director, Talent Acquisition North America, provides daily operational leadership to the recruiting team and advises on recruiting strategy with senior leaders throughout the organization. In this role, you will measure execution and results of recruitment and formulate candidate-focused strategies for our businesses and hiring leaders. You will be responsible for exampt and non-exempt hiring both internally and externally for multiple business units as well as corporate. You will also provide leadership to our college recruitment & leadership development programs. You will enable Avery Dennison’s dedication to a diverse workforce via modern and inclusive recruitment practices.  

You are a change agent leading both strategic and tactical improvements in sourcing, screening, and selection. This may include implementation of new technology, processes, or selection systems, and assessments. You will build awareness and support for the Talent Acquisition function via excellent communication and collaboration with HR partners and business leaders and via delivering outstanding results.

Main focus areas:

  • First and foremost get to know the business, understand what we do and what makes us great.

  • Foster strong partnerships with hiring managers and internal partners to ensure business needs are translated into recruitment strategies, initiatives and practices.

  • Help to drive workforce planning by translating determined “Buy”  talent needs into deliverable action plans

  • Sourcing Strategy: Building a strategy around sourcing candidates not just for “here and now” but also building a passive network of candidates who can be activated for the future needs of the busines.

  • Lead a multi-site recruitment team of 10, in an environment that encourages quick thinking, extraordinary communication and a proactive approach toward recruiting.

  • Develop an elite recruiting organization: Use a keen eye to spot exceptional recruiting talent across a variety of roles (sourcer, coordinator, recruiter, recruiting manager etc.), coach them to excellence and build the best recruiting organization.

  • Help drive the internal mobility efforts in the region and across the global functions. Keep a pulse on and help to connect high potential talent to internal opportunities through the succession planning processes.

  • Personally lead senior level searches

  • Manage vendor selection, associated SLA’s and review of results

  • Demonstrate knowledge of current trends in talent acquisition including using technology, social media, and industry networks

  • Ensure all recruitment and selection activities are in compliance with government regulations and organizational policies and procedures

Qualifications

Required:

  • You will have had experience partnering with senior leaders and executives within their organization on a wide range of recruiting topics from sourcing, to advising on the right talent profile, to assessment methodologies and a solid strategy to build, attract and activate passive talent pipelines for key roles. A true strategic partner on Talent Acquisition.

  • You will also be a strong people leader who will be able to coach, provide timely feedback and resources to build capabilities in the Talent Acquisition team that can lead to great careers within the company.

  • You should have experience putting together presentations/proposal’s and business cases to advocate for the needs of the function.

  • Expertise in recruiting best practices with an ability to adapt practices based on business/environmental considerations.

  • Strong customer focus with the ability to quickly develop productive business relationships and establish trust, respect, competence, and confidence.

  • Demonstrable ability to make improvements, drive execution, and achieve business results.

  • Proven ability to produce quality work in a collaborative, rapidly changing environment, balancing high production with the delivery of longer term objectives.

  • Past experience as an early adopter of technology to create improvements. In depth experience using multiple Applicant Tracking systems & recruitment technologies

  • Ten (10+) years of experience in Human Resource, preferably with some experience leading a recruiting function

  • BA/BS degree in Human Resources, business administration or related field preferred

Preferred:

  • Masters Degree in related field

  • Experience using SmartRecruiters (ATS) and/or various ATS tools

  • Skills & experience using Google suite tools, CRM’s etc.
