Job Description

This position in the Controls Engineering group at Sun Automation will focus on designing and implementing automated systems to control the equipment we build and retrofit for the corrugated box industry. Opportunities include enhancement to existing HMI systems, control interface to 3rd party computer based printing systems, and remote monitoring and troubleshooting of equipment in the field. Designs, develops, and coordinates all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. Responsible for the installation and technical
support of PLC based hardware and software. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

  • Use Software from major PLC suppliers to write programs to control machinery
  • Produce manuals to document the operation of these systems
  • Document of system, software, and configuration processes
  • Design, develop, and coordinate all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery
  • Program, simulate and test automated machinery and processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with machinery and factory automation; experience using/programming PLC’s, drives, operator interfaces, servos. Experience with Rockwell/AB, GE, and/or B&R a plus.

  • Occasional travel and after-hours access to support field service personnel.
