Technology Infrastructure Analyst

Job Description

Summary: 

The Technology Infrastructure Analyst has primary responsibility for developing and maintaining reliable technology infrastructure using on premise and cloud-hosted resources including physical & virtualized servers, operating systems, storage, networks, and related technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and manage compute and storage infrastructure, both on premise and in the cloud, to maximize performance and achieve availability of 99.9% or greater for mission critical systems and services.
  • Maximize university investments to achieve stated business outcomes, recommending & implementing strategies that will result in measurable long term performance, reliability, and financial stewardship.
  • Identify & remedy security threats, developing & implementing action plans to protect the university against known and emerging vulnerabilities.
  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize data in order to identify root causes, make decisions, and implement action plans.
  • Establish & implement disaster recovery & business continuity capability, enabling access to and timely recovery/restoration of critical data & systems.
  • Participate as a project team member to understand requirements, determine potential impacts to infrastructure, and recommend sustainable solutions that meet desired outcomes.
  • Collaborate both inside & outside the university, using written and verbal communication to effectively document procedures, present information, and recommend action plans to both technical & non-technical users.

Secondary Functions:

  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned as needed to meet department or university needs.

Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Windows server operating system and related services (e.g. DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Group Policy)
  • SaaS, IaaS and/or DRaaS cloud services (e.g. vCloud Air, MS Azure, Office 365)
  • Server and desktop virtualization (VMware experience preferred)
  • Enterprise storage administration
  • Enterprise networking concepts & tools (e.g. TCP/IP, VLANs, Subnetting, etc.) and a demonstrated ability to apply that knowledge to implement solutions and solve problems in an enterprise network environment

Work Conditions

  • Work in office environment , involving contact with faculty, staff, students, parents, service providers and vendors.
  • Work has deadlines, multiple interruptions, high volume and may be stressful at times.
