We have protected 25,000 acres of natural and agricultural lands in Santa Clara County. Job Description

The Authority is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to provide logistical and facilitative support for our environmental education and outreach programs. The Authority plans and delivers engaging and informational outdoor activities, participates in community events, and hosts special events for members of our diverse community.

 

The Seasonal Educational Aide is a key contributor to the success of our education and outreach program and provides support for many of our premier events including annual wildflower hikes and monthly Starry Nights astronomy experiences. Duties include interacting with our community and neighbors, presenting educational material to the public, bringing our outreach booth to events and providing in-office volunteer and educational programs support.

 

The Open Space Authority provides a fun and challenging position, a team of highly committed individuals, and a rewarding working environment.  This is a part-time, temporary, non-exempt position averaging 20 hours per week. Salary is $18.00 per hour. Interviews are scheduled for January 15, 2019.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess no less than the following skills, education, and experience:

  • The completion of the twelfth (12th) grade;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends;
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver’s License and vehicle insurance by time of appointment;
  • This position requires the willingness and ability to work outdoors in rugged terrain, leading hikes, walking over rough, hilly, uneven or unpaved ground and with exposure to natural elements;
  • Must possess the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds;
  • This position is required to take and pass a pre-employment background check.
