Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for working in a team environment to design reliable products. The Reliability And Maintainability (RAM) Engineer will be responsible for independently leading GATR’s reliability program to enhance the effectiveness of the maintenance organization through development and implementation of various reliability strategies and techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze equipment performance, failure data, and corrective maintenance history to develop and deploy engineering solutions, and improve maintenance strategies, preventative maintenance optimization, and other reliability techniques
  • Ensure that GATR’s reliability process meets or exceeds reliability audit objectives
  • Develop Design Verification Tests and Environmental Stress Screenings
  • Provide training and coaching in Root Cause and Reliability Analysis and take ownership of ongoing corrective action tracking, implementation, and follow up to ensure that all Root Cause analysis projects are documented
  • Compile item failure rates by accepted mathematical modeling, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) information, test results, and field reports
  • Establish preventive and corrective maintenance action recommendations and procedures
  • Perform and document Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) analysis
  • Manage work order documentation to support robust reliability and failure analysis efforts
  • Partner with suppliers to document best practices and engage customer technical resources, supply chain personnel, and key suppliers to develop and document robust spare parts lists, while striving to achieve best life cycle cost of ownership
  • Participate in design reviews with GATR systems and supplier sub-assemblies
  • Provide leadership in the training of maintenance tasks, techniques, technologies, and concepts for technicians and support staff

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of and experience applying lean manufacturing, Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys and 5S principles
  • Familiar with ISO9001 requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) as well as RAM predictions and models
  • Strong understanding of closed loop Failure Reporting And Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
  • Able to manage and execute RAM, FRACAS, and FMECA requirements
  • Experience compiling item failure rates by accepted mathematical modeling, OEM information, test results, and field reports
  • Experience troubleshooting and problem solving manufacturing processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work proactively to organize processes, with strong ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred

Credentials and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 6 years of experience in manufacturing quality systems environment
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Special Requirements

  • Some travel required (approximately 10%)
