Job Description

Job Summary

Work with engineers to test GATR products, from standalone bench test to full system integration. Identify functional problems with regard to testing and maintenance and suggest resolutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Aid test engineers in developing system and subsystem test procedures for new equipment and revision changes to existing equipment
  • Perform system level and subsystem level testing
  • Perform as onsite technician at customer/vendor sites
  • Provide onsite customer support to assist with operational, equipment, and training needs when engineering expertise is needed by the customer support team
  • Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans
  • Provide test inputs to test and project engineers
  • Perform routine operational tests, checkout, troubleshooting, debugging, prototype building, environmental testing, and simple developmental engineering tasks to ensure conformance with design specifications
  • Conduct defined engineering tests and collect data as assigned
  • Configure multiple types of satellite modems including iDirect, Comtech, ViaSat, and others
  • Provide training to GATR personnel on modems and other network devices
  • Provide assistance with facility upkeep and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to identify proper test equipment required to perform system and subsystem level testing
  • Experience with spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, signal generator, multi-meter, thermal chamber, calibration requirements
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicating with engineering leads
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude and be able to use electronic, hand, power, and pneumatic tools
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and written work instructions
  • Familiar with computer-based systems (Windows, Microsoft Word, and Excel)
  • Work in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment as part of a team

Credentials and Experience

  • Associate’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience as a SATCOM maintainer
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Military experience preferred
  • Networking experience preferred
  • Experience in writing technical documentation preferred

Special Requirements

  • Occasional travel required (up to 20%)
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must have the physical flexibility to kneel, squat, and bend
  • Must be able to work weekends, off-shifts, and overtime, as required
