The Greater Palm Beach Chapter plays a vital role in JDRF’s success. With annual revenues of around 2 million, the Chapter is one of six in Florida and a perennially strong performing JDRF Chapter. The Chapter has a strong Board of Directors as well as volunteers who are actively engaged and passionate supporters of JDRF.

Job Description

The Development Manager (DM) will lead, evaluate, and grow an event portfolio in excess of $450,000. The DM will work to strengthen existing relationships, as well as develop new opportunities, with a particular focus on corporate engagement. He or she will recruit, organize and coordinate appropriate committees with volunteers to expand fundraising. The primary income drivers for this portfolio are a gala and golf tournament, in addition to other campaigns or tasks set forth by the Chapter Executive Director.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Serve as a key staff member in implementing the strategic direction and purpose of the Chapter.  Collaborate with local staff as well as national/regional staff resources to ensure the Chapter operates from a donor centric perspective.
  • Help develop and implement strategies for chapter fundraising activities to sustain continued growth, maximum penetration of core market areas and opportunities for expansion where appropriate.
  • Provide management and active leadership for major chapter external and community development activities such as corporate partnership development, volunteer leadership development, marketing, and communication and education programs.
  • Identify, build, and steward relationships with community, civic and corporate leaders as an integral part of volunteer and donor prospect development and engagement in JDRF activities. 
  • Assume lead role in developing committee structure, volunteer relationships and the placement of volunteers in leadership roles.  Build and implement committee annual plans.
  • Establish, evaluate and maintain standards for all JDRF priority events and non-events programs, including Major Giving, Walk, Gala, and Special Events.  In partnership with event staff, develop an annual plan for each of the programs including financial goals, objectives and calendar of activity.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records for campaigns, and help ensure that the logistics and budget/timelines are met for campaigns. 
  • Utilize social media to increase visibility and promote programs and events.
  • Identify and cultivate potential new board members. Make recommendations about development opportunities to the Chapter Executive Director.
  • Assist in identifying, cultivating and stewarding major donors.
  • Ensure personal accountability for meeting deadlines and responding to volunteers and other department requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. 

Qualifications

  • Four+ years of fundraising experience or relevant business/volunteer experience. CFRE a plus.
  • Knowledge of both special event and non-event fundraising activities (walk, gala, golf, major gifts, stewardship, etc.) is a must. Gala experience is a plus.
  • Must be a self-starter while also being collaborative and an amazing team player!
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
  • Volunteer development and management experience, especially around the staff-volunteer partnership.
  • Significant computer literacy. (Ex. Word, Excel, Publisher) 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience required.
  • Ability to travel locally required.  Evening and weekend work required as needed.
