Position Overview

Agricultural sector is marching towards commercialization but the increase in productivity of farmers is very less in comparison to the productivity of workers in other sectors. Almost 68% of the people are engaged in the agricultural sector, so the development of the sector is important to transform the economy. Nepal Rastra Bank has come up with the manual of subsidized credit rate to agriculture sector, especially to youths to enhance the agriculture sector and encourage youths to be involved in the same sector. It is expected that the policy would decrease the unemployment proportion, increase involvement of youths in agriculture sector and increase the agricultural production. Daayitwa is conducting a study to assess the commercial bank’s execution of interest subsidy in the agriculture sector with objectives:

  1. To collect the data of total credit flow and credit flow to agriculture sector from commercial banks, development banks and finance companies across the country.
