We are the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority. Our mission is to conserve the natural environment, support agriculture and connect people to nature by protecting open spaces, natural areas, and working farms and ranches for future generations.


We have protected nearly 20,000 acres of natural and agricultural lands in Santa Clara County. Our agency operates a network of open space lands to manage and conserve natural resources and provide compatible opportunities for hiking, biking, and equestrian uses.

The Open Space Authority is seeking to fill a position for an enthusiastic and motivated person to provide logistical and facilitation support for our environmental education, events and outreach programs.


The Open Space Authority plans and delivers engaging and informational outdoor activities; participates in local events and puts on its own special events for members of our diverse community.


The Seasonal Educational Aide is a key contributor to the success of our education and outreach program and provides support for many of our premier events including our wildflower hikes and monthly Starry Nights astronomy experiences. Duties include opportunities to meet and be involved with our community and neighbors, bringing our outreach booth to events and providing in-office educational materials support.


The Open Space Authority provides a fun and challenging position, a team of highly committed individuals, and a rewarding working environment.  This is a part-time, temporary, non-exempt position up to 20 hours per week. Salary is $18.00 per hour. Interviews are scheduled for January 13, 2017. 


Qualified candidates have the equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and experience providing exceptional customer service.

•    Ability to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends;

•    Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver’s License and vehicle insurance by time of appointment;

•    This position requires the willingness and ability to work outdoors in rugged terrain, leading hikes, walking over rough, hilly, uneven or unpaved ground and with exposure to natural elements;

•    Must possess the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds;

•    And passage of a background check.
