Job Description

Summary of Duties: This position will assist Principal Investigators, sub-Investigators, and coworkers in conducting clinical trials according to federal and state regulations. While the Principal Investigator is ultimately responsible for the conduct of clinical trials, the RN CRC will facilitate day to day activities including patient visits, data entry, and communication with the trial sponsor and monitor. Basic knowledge of the scientific process and medical terminology will be needed. This position will require use of nursing skills including injections, infusions, and reviewing labs for critical values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Treat each patient as your most important priority.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records.
  • Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and families.
  • Screen and identify potential patients for participation.
  • Obtain informed consent from patients in compliance with guidelines.
  • Obtain and record data from patients and medical records. Enter data into study-specific data collection website.
  • Monitor and maintain patients’ case report forms for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain an orderly and consistent filing system.
  • Attend educational programs as required to maintain and develop new skills for the position. This may include travel throughout the United States.
  • Train new staff.
  • Coordinate most complex studies and those that require an RN degree.
  • Review all labs for every study and assess for critical values; conduct any clinical assessments that require an RN.
  • Do all injections, infusions, and other processes for the department which require an RN.
  • Maintain archiving system for closed studies.
  • Maintain temperature logs for drugs and devices.
  • Maintain patient studies list.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Some Orthopedic and Rheumatology work as well

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • RN degree required.
  • Previous research experience is preferred
  • Previous experience with injections, infusion, phlebotomy, and joint assessments is preferred
