Job Description

  • To design and maintain robots, and to create new applications for them, continually find new ways to expand their potential. Conduct research, propose new concepts and applications, and find ways to advance the existing ones.
  • The engineer will upgrade existing robots and applications, and test the modifications. He/she is also responsible for integrating robotics with other equipment, such as controllers, as well as for debugging robotics programs and providing technical support to clients. He/she may sometimes be onsite at a client’s location to oversee robot operations, upgrade the robots, investigate mechanical failures, create back-ups of robot programs, or deal with any other issues that arise.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  1. The incumbent must have an excellent understanding of automated systems, manufacturing, design, production processes, raw materials, and raw materials, and quality control. The work entails resource allocation and strategic planning, so good administrative and business skills are a must.
  2. He/she must have a good attention to detail and be able to solve complex problems. Anticipate all the future uses of the designs they create. Commercial awareness is important so incumbent should be able to anticipate the future needs of end users as well as to pinpoint the industries which could potentially benefit from the use of robots. Creativity and a knack for invention and thinking outside the box can give an engineer a significant advantage in this profession.
  3. He/she is expected to work teams to develop new designs and concepts, so good people skills and ability to communicate ideas clearly to clients and stakeholders are critical. Equally important is the ability to analyse complex sets of data and to make decisions based on the results of the research. Good problem solving skills are essential in this line of work on a day-to-day basis.

 Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, higher degrees in research and design e.g. PhDs would be an advantage
  • Familiar with prevalent microcontrollers, sensors, motors and other relevant electronics technologies
  • Preference for candidates with CAD, Robotics and IOT experience
