Job Description

The focus of the Oregon/SW Washington Chapter is fundraising to support this important research and to also provide Outreach Services to those living with type 1 diabetes and their families. This position is fundraising focused, requiring a minimum of 4-5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience.

Mid to senior-level development position. Serves in leadership role with assigned volunteers and constituents. Supervises select volunteers or committees . Leadership responsibility for managing, coordinating and leveraging the comprehensive development areas of the chapter in cooperation with the Development Manager on Staff who handles Peer to Peer Fundraising helping to ensure that fundraising goals are met. This position serves as Lead Staff for the Hope Gala and also handles the “Connections” Outreach Program and collaborates and provides some support for other Outreach Programs as appropriate. Also works with operations as needed in reviewing daily mail and processing deposits in cooperation with Development Manager on Staff.

Detailed Description        
In coordination with the Executive Director and volunteer leadership and committees, identifies and cultivates new – and cultivates, stewards and develops growth in existing - corporate and individual sponsorship partners for chapter events – specifically Hope Gala - and for the chapter as a whole.

Maintains accurate and complete financial records for all corporate and individual sponsorship partners and event donors.

In coordination with the Executive Director and volunteer leadership and committees, as appropriate, assists in the development the chapter's major gifts, planned giving, and grant writing programs as appropriate.

Assists in identifying major donors. 

Maintains standards for all events and non-events programs established at the international level.
Accountable for meeting deadlines, responding to volunteers and other national and regional department requests.

Networks with the national and regional resource teams and other JDRF chapters to discuss best practices and share new ideas.

Collaborates with chapter staff to ensure the critical growth and success of the chapter. 

Works in close partnership with the Development Manager who is responsible for Peer to Peer Events and some Outreach Programs.

Works closely with all Staff to ensure compliance with Audit Guidelines.   

Performs other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree Required. 4-5+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience, preferably with some management experience. CFRE a plus. Knowledge of fundraising and non-event fundraising activities is a must. Candidate must be a self-starter with ability to exercise sound judgment. Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers. Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills a must.
