Job Description

The Senior RF Systems Engineer will reside in the Greater Huntsville, Alabama, area and work at the GATR offices located at 11506 Gilleland Road in Huntsville. A relocation package is available for the right candidate.

The RF Systems Engineer will report to Tom Honeycutt, Director of Engineering, with indirect reporting to Dr. Larry Lowe, Vice President of Engineering.

This is a newly created position as a result of GATR’s growth and requirements for GATR to serve its customers.

Five priority targets to be accomplished within the first 12 months:
1.    Feed Design for GATR FLEX
2.    Antenna characterization of GATR FLEX
3.    Radar Array Application for Inflatable Antennas
4.    GATR TRAC ground station design and characterization for LEO Satellites downlink
5.    GATR FLEX applications to Cubesat Datalink

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
- US Citizen (required), preferably with SECRET level clearance but must be “clearable” to the SECRET level.
- Doctorate Degree and 10 years of experience desired.  Master’s Degree and 10 years of experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience writing and winning R&D contracts (SBIR, BAA, RIF)
- Demonstrated experience with antenna pattern collection and analysis
- Demonstrated experience of RF systems analysis to include link budget calculations, system noise temperature calculations, and signal tracing through system of active devices
- Demonstrated experience writing test plans and test reports
- Demonstrated experience with standard communication modulations and waveforms
- Demonstrated experience filing for antenna certifications – ARSTRAT, FCC, satellite vendors
- Demonstrated experience with RF and analog lab test equipment spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, power meter, frequency counter, etc.

Desired Qualifications
- 10-15 years experience
- Familiarity with AnSoft/Ansys HFSS, FEKO, or other reflector antenna simulation software
- Antenna feed design experience
- RF, analog, and mixed signal circuit design and testing experience
- Demonstrated experience with design for manufacturing
- Experience with military satellite communications systems
- Experience taking a product to market (some engineers struggle with launching a product; in their mind there is always something else to work on and improve)
