Job Description

  •  Provide technical support to the CRS Flood Program involving engineering issues, planning issues, repetitive loss, training and marketing. 
  •  Coordinate CRS Training Program involving new staff, CRS Workshops @ EMI and Field Deployed classes, state floodplain management conferences, and local CRS Users Groups. 

  •  Coordinate and support updates to program support documents (CRS Coordinators Manual, Specialist Manual and other stand alone documents). 

  •  Provide technical support for quality control and program coordination functions including file reviews, technical activity reviews and support to field staff. 

  •  Provide coordination between CRS Flood Program and BCEGS Program.   Work with BCEGS staff to provide data as needed (BCEGS classifications are part of the CRS Program. 

Qualifications

  •  College Degree with a minimum 4-6 years work related experience in floodplain management, emergency management, evaluation of community building codes, and/or other planning fields related to floodplain and flood hazard management. 
  •  A working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point. 

  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, public speaking and good math skills. 

  •  A working knowledge and/or understanding of hydrology and hydraulics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), topographic mapping and map reading skills, surveying, planning, construction plan review, storm water regulation, etc. 

  •  Good Customer service skills, be self motivated, detail oriented and possess good organizational skills. 

  •  Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certificate required (if not currently a CFM, must complete course of study and attain CFM certification within one year of employment).  AICP a strong plus
