Job Description

This person is responsible for developing and executing Spear’s Technology Operations strategy and road map, ensuring operational excellence for corporate systems and adherence to industry best practices for information governance and controls. 

User Services Management 

  • Maintain and upgrade (as needed) network and communications infrastructure including network appliances, circuits and connectivity such as wi-fi. 
  • Operate an employee-facing service desk, responding to and resolving incidents and service requests. 
  • Maintain systems components such as servers, network attached storage (NAS/SAN) solutions and A/V solutions. 
  • Maintain a reliable end user compute (EUC) solution comprised of PC and Mac solutions, standard images, patching, endpoint security and remote management. 
  • Maintain a mobile device management (MDM) strategy. 
  • Maintain and update Spear’s Telephony and omni-channel communications solutions, including external phone numbers as well as routing and skills configuration. 
  • Ensure proper backups of important information are being performed and tested to ensure restorability. 
  • Manage user directory, single sign on (SSO) and Identify and Access Management (IAM) capabilities. 
  • Assist in procurement of hardware and software solutions. 

Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) 

  • Using an Information Technology Integration Library (ITIL®) framework, create and execute a roadmap that enables the right blend of service management standards such as: 
    • Incident/Problem Management 
    • Asset Management 
    • Business Impact Analysis, Business Continuity Planning, Disaster/Recovery Planning 
    • Release & Deployment Management 
    • Change Management 
    • Service Level Management 
    • Service Catalogue Management 
  • Champion ITSM best practices in the organization and align operational processes of Spear staff to these practices. 
  • Align different tiers of service desks with business-facing support functions. 

Establish and Manage Governance Regulatory and Compliance (GRC) Capability at Spear 

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations within Spear’s scope such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS. 
  • Select and implement an information security management standard such as NIST or ISO 27001. 
  • Ensure that appropriate standards that ensure a high standard for data privacy such as SOC 2, CCPA and GDPR are met as informed by Spear strategy. 
  • Maintain IT Policies related to technology services.  

Staff and Partner Management

  • Manage IT Operations staff and partners by defining cadences and measuring against agreed upon metrics. 
  • Conduct all steps required for staff management according to Spear performance ecosystem. 
  • Ensure that all IT Services and projects are conducted by a blend of full-time staff and IT services partners, recommendation changes as needed. 
  • Assist in negotiation of vendor scope, costs and contracts. 
  • Ensure performance of vendors against executed contracts. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years in an IT Management role in an organization of similar size and scope as Spear Education.
  • 5+ years of experience managing an employee facing help desk
  • Experience using the ITIL Framework to create and execute on a technology roadmap
  • Experience in the establishment and management of a GRC program
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Proven ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment.
