Job Description

The National Manager, Leadership Giving Communications will be part of the Leadership Giving (LG) team, working closely with the team, including five National Directors (NDs), focused on prospects of $100,000+ and six regionally assigned Leadership Giving Directors (LGDs) who are each responsible for the portfolio of donors assigned to them and the other Relationship Managers in the chapters in the region to which they are assigned.  S/he will be responsible for managing the development of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship materials for major donors to JDRF in a way that is donor-centric, putting the needs of the donor first and  establishing a connection between those needs and the funding need.  he successful candidate will be a talented communicator and proposal writer , is responsible for developing communications assets that convey a clear vision of JDRF's mission and the T1D research we support in a clear, inspirational and compelling manner.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with the NDs and LGDs and other members of the Leadership Giving team to create template and custom proposals and stewardship reports that meet the needs of JDRF's sophisticated and well-informed prospects and donors.  This includes Directed Giving donors, in some cases, for donors of $25,000 or more, as outlined by JDRF's Directed Giving program.

S/he must be a proactive and professional individual who can work collaboratively with the LG team, the Marketing and Communications Department , Research staff and senior JDRF Staff and volunteers in order to draft, finalize and deliver high quality LG assets to all parties.

This position is responsible for the project management of the various projects to which they are assigned.  

Qualifications

BA or BS Degree in Communications, Marketing, English or Journalism.

Seven to ten years of experience producing Development communications materials such as proposals, grant applications, stewardship report and nonprofit marketing materials.

Familiar with the nonprofit fundraising and development process.

Ability to translate sometimes complex scientific research into compelling lay reader-friendly copy that connects the research to JDRF's mission to cure, treat and prevent T1D.

A skilled storyteller with a proven ability to deliver proposals the resonate emotionally with donors while also conveying a clear plan of action and strategic goals.

Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and balancing competing and time sensitive needs of internal clients.

Superior written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse set of individuals across all levels of the organization.

Skilled at communicating with scientists and other medical and fundraising professionals.
